When i was learning to play around with textures and materials i came up with this and it is still one of my favourite images.

wow! Very impressive! Sammo, you keep on submitting awesome work.....that isn't finished, but it's still always awesome! You should finish some stuff! It'd be even more awesome. I love this one because of the reflection. It looks like an Apple ad or something. Great job! Mind if I ask how'd you do it? And where'd you get the idea?

lol, well when i did it i thought it was finished, true that i could probably fix it up now, especialy the lighting. It was when i had first learned how to make a glass texture and thought it looked real cool, then on Blender Artists they were holding a compitition to do with planets in weird places, and one of the guys put up the site where he got the texture maps from, so i thought i would have a play with them planetpixelemporium.com/venus.html[\URL] has the texture maps for all the planets and cloud maps and other stuff, very useful stuff. I had always looked at 3d stuff of the earth and that and thought it must be so hard to do when in reality it's just all in the texture.
