Contests/Challenges.
But non-competitive.
Like, BA's get so nasty sometimes, but its still a neat concept, seeing how different people interpret a topic. We can have quick ones, (1 hr), medium ones, ( a few days), long ones (a few months), whatever. It's a great way to learn and improve, and it's also fun. If we want, some can have a bit of competition, but whatever we want.
How does that sound?
EDIT: We could even do animations contests!

Would this only be open to blender artists?

Not necessarily. We could have some program specific contests but I see no reason why max users can't compete as well. It would be interesting to see the contrast between the entries.

Simple answer is: If you're a friend, then you're in no matter what 3d software you're in. All programs can convert to other programs, you know that, right?

Well they don't so much convert as are able to export to a common file type. But its close enough.
