This doesn't really fit in any of the sub-boards, so Ima post here, if thats okay with the powers that be.
How's about we, to build community, do a nice community project? It could be a scene, an animation, whatever. There are a lot of competitions or we could just do one ourselves, for fun.
Show 'em what we've got, y'know?
Tell me what you think...
If we like the idea, I have an empty IRC channel we could use for planning!
Hmm... That's another idea... A VAFORUMS IRC channel... </offtopic>
Well, tell me what y'all think!

Well it's definately worth a shot. Let's see.....yeah! Okay! You've got it. (And I love the little </offtopic> thing! Funny!!!) so yeah....I'm going to be recruiting some more even more experienced blender users on here.....but they're even younger than I am!!!! So yeah, we can definately do it. So what about this IRC channel thingy? How does that work? Please explain. Love the idea, but need more detail.

Heh, yeah Canada can be cold. But I like it...
IRC is like an IM type of thing. Copied from the sticky on BA:
Step #1: Install any IRC-Application you like mIRC, Chatzilla, ...
Step #2: Usually you have to set a nickname when starting the application. This will be your nickname on the channel.
Step #3: Type the following commands into the command line of your IRC-Application: /server irc.freenode.net /join #project33
There are probably easier ways to do that depending on what client you get, but same idea. Project33 is my empty channel that I need a use for, we can change it if we want.
Try it out if you get a chance, my name there is jUxyl, I'd be the only one there...

Elephants dream was amazing on so many levels... A bit ambitious, don't you think? I have an idea, dunno if we can/want to do it, was going to do live action with composited blender elements but i dunno if thats a good idea. Basically we see a house, surroundings and stuff, suburban. It starts raining, close-ups of stuff around house (yard, etc). See door, it opens. Man comes out, grumbling, with lantern. He trips, as he gets up cam. switches to first person. Walks to this shed, out in rain. See him go in (3rd person again), comes out. Wide shot, shed roof bursts open, this long pole comes out, umbrella (huge) on end opens and covers house. That's it. Anything subject to change, of course. What do we think?

It does sounds pretty good, i hope somewhere here knows how to rig characters for movement though because i have no idea. Hell i hope somewhere here can do people well, the rest of the modelling should be ok, just that person

Yeah that was the trip-up, the person. A way to get around that is to never actually see a person at all, always either use 1st person view or have him out of sight...

Wow, I'd love to! My name's Ben, btw. But yeah, I'd be glad to expand this place. It's a really great community already Mind if I try to "recruit" some people? That new animation I just posted was done with a friend, also a blenderhead...
